| Feile Samhain 2007 is a celebration
of Irish dance, music, arts and crafts, sponsored by An Daire
Academy of Irish Dance and taking place on October 27 & 28,
2007. Once again, we are fortunate to hold our event at the beautiful
Hilton/Vancouver Convention Center in Vancouver, Washington (directly
across the Columbia River from Portland, Oregon). |

Feile (Fay-lee) roughly means "happy" or "celebration"
and Samhain (SOW-in) is the ancient Irish harvest festival and
the origin of Halloween. In addition to an Irish dance competition
featuring top competitors and musicians from North America and
Canada and internationally renowned adjudicators, we have planned
a weekend of music, costume, mask-making and food competitions
in the spirit of the holiday. Our most popular event is the costume
reel, open to all participants and where "anything goes."
Please see our photo album for some examples of the delightfully
amazing creativity of our participants of last year and the great
fun that was had by all!! Also particularly appreciated are the
beautiful crystal trophies given to the championship competitors
and winners of the trophy specials (not to mention the yummy
and fun treats those trophies might hold!).
We are also very fortunate and privileged to present many perpetual
trophy specials. These include two charitable events, the Carol
Ford Memorial Trophy Special and the Dancers for Children Doernbecher
Special. In these two events, 100% of the entry fees collected
will benefit the Oregon and SW Washington Affiliate of the Susan
G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the Doernbecher Children's
Hospital Foundation, respectively. Please see our web-site links
for more information regarding these very worthwhile causes as
well as all of the perpetual trophy specials offered.
We look forward to another fabulous Feile Samhain event in 2007,
and hope you'll join us for a weekend of great competition and
good clean fun!! So get started on your costume plans, design
your jack-o-lantern and Halloween mask--and we'll see you in
October!!
