COMPETITION
Irish dance is as much sport as art and cultural expression. Dancers are never required to compete, but are encouraged to participate in local competition to receive recognition for there effort and useful feedback on how to improve. Most of all, a feis (FESH, pl. feiseanna, FESH-ana), is an opportunity to celebrate Irish dance, music and culture with an extended Irish dance family.
A list of all feiseanna in the Western US Region may be found here.
Information regarding qualifying events for the World Irish Dance Championships, held each year over Easter week, may be found here.
In addition, An Daire Academy hosts five competitions each year. For more information, please check out the Pacific Celtic Foundation here.
